Somnia goes to Toronto
In October 2024, I was given the opportunity to travel to Toronto with some friends to enjoy the (still warm) city scenery, indulge in some out-of-this-world street food, hit up all the tourist hotspots, and take the most pictures I’ve ever taken in a 5-day period. The overwhelming number of choices at Toronto’s famous World Food Market demanded that I return four times throughout the course of our visit. Another point of interest was the St. Lawrence Market, complete with its shops selling fresh produce, smoked meats, honey, and jewelry of every kind. I’m now realizing as I’m writing this how much food governed this trip.
What also ruled over my activities was, of course, photography. I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of photographers roaming the streets of the city, capturing everything from street art to Instagram photos. Any time I saw something of slight interest, my lens was pointed in its direction. Our company is all about bringing the urban lifestyle to more people, and going to the biggest city in our country was a must. Seeing the experimental styles of clothing, numerous ways people went to great lengths to produce content, and the sheer passion for capturing a nice photo was a sight to see.
We had a lot of time set aside specifically to take photos with two of our models, Mariana and Madison. We spent a whole day walking all across downtown, from Queen Street East to Queen Street West. The livelihood of the city offers endless inspiration for outstanding photography, and by the end of the day, my camera had over 5,000 photos. We made sure to stop by Graffiti Alley on our adventure, as it was one of the first spots I knew I wanted to photograph and just see in general.
Here’s my favorites.
