Unforgettable Photoshoot: Neon Lights and Perfect Shots

Last week, one of our photographers, Janam, was extremely passionate about getting some photos taken at a few gas stations across our city. He had a certain stylistic approach in mind centered around neon lights and asked if we could get together with one of our models to execute his dream photoshoot. Within the hour, Madison agreed to meet up with us to create some absolutely stunning imagery.
The Gas Station
Two days later, we met up in front of the gas station, certainly one of the oddest locations we’ve decided to shoot at. Even so, we were very confident that we had something perfect. Madison completely stole the scene with the first images we took.
“Neon Light” A&W Photoshoot
After taking these, I had the idea to utilize the A&W restaurant beside. Its bright neon lights, mixed with Madison’s neutral-colored outfit, made for a show-stealer of an image.
The colors in these images absolutely POP. It’s essentially a modernization of a classic 50’s drive-in restaurant aesthetic, which comes out beautifully. We decided to get some root beer to really get into the mood of the restaurant. In order to utilize our environment further, we took some outstanding photos with Madison on Janam’s car (we think A&W clearly needs to consider a Somnia collaboration).
Downtown Lights
Once we were finished with these, we were off to a location I have been wanting to shoot at night for months—The Arts Hotel. We were able to reserve a little space facing the front of the alluring building on the main street. After (safely) propping Madison on top of our car, we knew we had another perfect shot. Madison owned the entire street as the bright colors wrapped around her and met me at my lens. Overall, this was a short and sweet photoshoot (only around 1.5 hours); however, this was one of the most satisfying sessions we’ve ever had. The night was perfect, every pose we choreographed came out excellent, everyone’s mood was overwhelmingly positive, and we came out with some truly perfect neon light photos.
